STREAMING NEWS


★The Yellowstone prequel series 1932, starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford, has been retitled 1923. Not many details are known about the series except that it will encompass the End of WWI (1918) and the start of Prohibition (1920). It is currently expected to premiere in December.


★Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo are set to star in the new London crime thriller Criminal Record for Apple TV+. The series is a powerful, character-driven thriller set in the heart of contemporary London. An anonymous phone call draws two brilliant detectives into a confrontation over an old murder case, one a young woman in the early stages of her career; the other a well-connected man determined to protect his legacy. The series touches on issues of race, institutional failure, and the quest to find common ground in a polarized Britain. Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who,The Thick of It) stars as Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty and Cush Jumbo (The Good Wife, The Good Fight, The Beast Must Die) stars as Detective Sergeant June Lenker.

★Jameela Jamil and Tim Meadows are joining the cast of the upcoming Natasha Lyonne/Rian Johnson series Poker Face for Peacock.


★Paramount+ has announced start of production and casting for new series Wolf Pack, based on the book series by Edo Van Belkom, Wolf Pack follows a teenage boy and girl whose lives are forever changed when a California wildfire awakens a terrifying supernatural creature. Wounded in the chaos of its attack, the teens are inexplicably drawn to each other and to two others who were adopted sixteen years earlier by a park ranger after another mysterious wildfire. As the full moon rises, all four teens come together to unravel the secret that connects them - the bite and blood of a werewolf. The series stars Armani Jackson (Honor Society, Chad) as Everett, Bella Shepard (iCarly, The Wilds) as Blake, Chloe Rose Robertson (Wildflower) as Luna and Tyler Lawrence Gray (Our Town, Macbeth) as Harlan. Production will begin next week in Atlanta, and the series will premiere later this year.

★Mel B will join the judging panel for the second season of Queen of the Universe on Paramount+, replacing Leona Lewis. Season 1 judges Michelle Visage, Vanessa Williams and Trixie Mattel will return, along with host Graham Norton.


★Dana Delany has joined the cast of Sylvester Stallone's new Paramount+ series Tulsa King. The show follows New York mafia capo Dwight 'The General' Manfredi (Stallone), just after he is released from prison after 25 years and unceremoniously exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa, Okla. Realizing that his mob family may not have his best interests in mind, Dwight slowly builds a crew from a group of unlikely characters to help him establish a new criminal empire in a place that to him might as well be another planet. Delany will play Margaret, an affluent and influential equestrian and owner of a sprawling horse farm and animal preserve. She is a formidable presence and a trustee of the Annie Oakley Society.

★CBC comedy series Working Moms is set to end with its upcoming 7th season, which will premiere on CBC and CBC Gem in the winter of 2023, followed by streaming on Netflix outside of Canada.

IN MEMORIAM

★Actress Maureen Arthur has died at 88 following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Arthur began her career with a role in the 1958 film Hot Rod Gang, and went on to a regular role in the short-lived 1961 TV series Holiday Lodge. She guested on seveal TV shows including Bachelor Father, Perry Mason, I Spy, Get Smart, Please Don't Eat the Daisies and The Monkees. Her biggest break came in the national tour of the Broadway smash How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying as Hedy LaRue, the ambitious mistress and secretary. After a two year run, she joined the Broadway production and then reprised the role in the 1967 film adaptation. She returned to Broadway in 1967's Something Different, with Bob Dishy and Linda Lavin, written and directed by Carl Reiner. She also appeared in the films Thunder Alley, How To Commit Marriage, The Love God?, The Love Machine, and Harry and Walter Go To New York. TV credits include The Flying Nun, Gomer Pyle, USMC, Love, American Style, Sanford and Son, Night Gallery, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, Alice, Laverne & Shirley, The Red Hand Gang, CPO Sharkey, Mork & Mindy, Empire (1984), The Duck Factory, Too Close for Comfort, Murder, She Wrote, Highway to Heaven, Matlock and Empty Nest.
