STREAMING NEWS

★All six episodes of the documentary series The Last Movie Stars will debut on HBO Max July 21. The docuseries, directed by Ethan Hawke, celebrates the enigmatic personas, incredible talent, and love story of actors Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman. Martin Scorsese serves as Executive Producer. The project is based around a long-abandoned project that Newman commissioned from friend and screenwriter Stewart Stern. At Newman's request, Stern interviewed close friends, family, and artistic collaborators Elia Kazan, Sidney Lumet, Karl Malden, Sidney Pollack, Gore Vidal, Jacqueline Witte, Joanne Woodward, and others for a planned memoir. Newman was also interviewed by Stern. They discussed his youth, his first marriage with Witte, his romance and life with Woodward, his personal demons, and the gut-wrenching loss of his son, Scott. Karen Allen, George Clooney, Oscar Isaac, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Zoe Kazan, Laura Linney, Sam Rockwell, and others voice segments of the original transcribed interviews. Some of Newman's daughters, Sally Field and Scorsese are featured in new interviews, along with archival interviews with Newman and Woodward.

★Florence Pugh is attached to star in a limited series adaptation of John Steinbeck's East of Eden for Netflix. Zoe Kazan, granddaughter of Elia Kazan who directed the 1955 film adaptation, is attached to write and executive produce. It's unknown at this time which character Pugh will be playing. The 1955 film only adapted the final section of the book, and starred James Dean in his final film role.

TV NEWS


★Sherri Shepherd’s new daytime talk show, taking over for the now departed Wendy Williams Show, has set a premiere date: Monday, September 12. The nationally syndicated show, cleared in 97% of the country, will air on channels owned by Fox Television Stations, Cox, Hearst, Sinclair, Nexstar and others. Check local listings for channel and time in your area.

★Below Deck Mediterranean returns to Bravo with a super-sized Season 7 premiere Monday, July 11 at 8:00 PM. Peacock subscribers can enjoy each episode one week early beginning July 4.


★Dark Winds
has been renewed for a six-episode second season at AMC and AMC+. The first season premiered June 12.

MOVIE NEWS


★Léa Seydoux is in negotiations to the cast of Dune: Part Two as Lady Margot, a long-standing servant of the Sisterhood.

STAGE NEWS

★If you're thinking of taking in a Broadway show, The Broadway League has announced that beginning in July, a 'mask optional' policy will go into effect for Broadway theatres. Audience members will be encouraged, but not mandated, to wear masks in theaters. Audience masking protocols for August and beyond will be evaluated on a monthly basis. An update will be announced in mid-July, the League said.
